What is golden butterfly?

The Golden Butterfly (Cethosia hypsea) is a species of butterfly found in Southeast Asia, specifically in countries such as India, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bhutan, Myanmar, Laos, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, and Malaysia. Its wingspan ranges from 5-7 cm and they have a distinct black and golden-yellow pattern on their wings.

These butterflies are commonly found in deciduous forests, gardens, and parks, and prefer to feed on flowers such as Lantana, Asclepias, and Calotropis. The species is relatively unthreatened and is not considered endangered, although their populations are declining in certain areas due to habitat loss and environmental degradation.

Golden Butterflies are also commonly used in traditional medicine and are believed to have healing properties for fever, flu, and other illnesses. They are also kept as decorative insects in some cultures.
